It's raining, it's pouring and the salt technique backgrounds are limp

I was going to play along with a challenge at Back to Basics... but my backgrounds are all damp, too limp to use and that's because it's been raining here for days and now we have a 15cm (6") lake in the backyard too

Birthday Wishes

Well lovely rainy weather here - lots actually,  so what better place to be, than at your desk -
This afternoon I put together this card using the layout at CAS(e) this Sketch #306.  Again from my stash of experiments I found this white piece I'd made using the rubber band technique... I pulled out two pieces of matching card and used the technique on the purple one, adding some glitter gel pen to the bands too, to match in with my silver glitter die cut sentiment.  I finished off, attaching all the pieces in place and adding a die cut heart medallion.

Spread Your Wings and Fly

A bit of dabbling with mixed media bits today...this year I'm determined to have a go more often.
I started with gesso over my card, then sponged on Distress Inks, stuck on some torn printed tissue paper and added some texture paste with a stencil.  Then some stamping around the edges. I found this die cut cage in my stash, coloured that up with DO and then stamped my bird on a branch, fussy cut it and used pencils to colour it.  Attached all my pieces and sponged up the edges before framing it with a peach card background.

Good Style is Timeless ATC

Vintage theme at Happy Little Stampers January ATC challenge.... first I brayered DO inks on card stock and stamped on my 'Vintage' words and some swirls.  Next I stamped my three ladies in grey ink and watercoloured them with DO and cut them out with a circle die and sponged the edges.  Lastly on a scrap of the background I stamped my main sentiment and cut it out....then assembled my ATC on green card back.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it, happy stamping

Be like the Bird.....

This background is from my 'experiment' stash - using Distress Inks and Oxides with stencils and I also see some stamping, then today I added some coloured up texture paste with a stencil with three little birds on branches... to go with my stamped and fussy cut bird.. I used Distress Oxides on him.   To finish I attached a stamped sentiment strip (from my stash) and attached to green card.  I am playing along with ARTplorations Mixed Media January challenge - Anything Goes.

Hug in a Mug

My last card using the freebie digis from Shery at Stamplorations Love Blog Hop... I printed the image twice- on cream card and slightly larger on white card.  Then used watercolour pencils to colour both images and used a stencil to add a mini heart in the coffee froth.  I fussy cut the floral section and after a disaster with the cream panel, fussy cut most of it too.  I chose a background of DP attached to a white card and used foam tape to mount the flowers. Lastly I die cut the Stamplorations sentiment - Hug in a Mug from scrap card and also a small heart.  I am also posting to Stamplorations Never Ending Anything Goes challenge, and Simon Says Wednesday challenge - Have a Heart.

Love Always

My second panel from Shery at Stamplorations Love Blog Hop...using the Love Always freebie digi
I used water colour pencils again on this image printed on cream card and simply trimmed it down to fit an matching aqua card.  I am also posting to Stamplorations Never Ending Anything Goes challenge.

You Are Loved

A big thank you Shery, I've had a super weekend colouring up the freebie digis from the Stamplorations Love Hop and Linky Party.
Here's my first card and who doesn't love a red rose and strawberry cupcake... I used watercolour pencils to colour the printed panel and added some silver gel pen to the lettering and a wash of perfect pearls to the patty pan, trimmed the panel leaving a white frame and attached to a red card.

Wishing You Well

Last year I often stamped two images when I had my gear out and this panel is one - just the right 'burgundy' colour for the Stamplorations CAS card January challenge with optional colour twist.  I added some pencil details to the image - shadows and depth and trimmed the panel with a stitched die frame ... I decided to mount the frame higher with some extra card layers and trimmed the floral panel slightly so when it fitted back into the frame there was a slight burgundy edge from the card base.  Finished the card with a sentiment strip stamped in  grey ink.

Birthday Wishes

Oh I am loving this bright happy Birthday card, quick and easy to make too.  From my stash came the background panel - wax resist with Distress Oxides, featuring the gorgeous colours from the photo prompt at CUTplorations January challenge.  And the simply die cut my sentiment three times - black, white and aqua blue glitter card and glued them together offsetting each layer.  I am also playing along with Happy Little Stampers January Anything Goes with Dies challenge and Stamplorations Never Ending Anything Goes.

This is where the Story begins

Well I started this challenge #24 at The Library weeks ago with an image of a yellow scooter - well that didn't work well.... so after some thought I imagined the life cycle of the butterfly - the beginning - a tiny egg and finally a gorgeous butterfly - so that's my interpretation of the book title and I've also used the colours - Aqua and Yellow.
Absolute Beginners (London Trilogy Book 2) by [MacInnes, Colin]For my background I scribbled aqua gelatos on my plastic sheet and spritzed it and my card with water and smooched - worked fabulously.  Then I die cut my butterfly in black and yellow and pieced it together,  used pencil to give the yellow some depth and an embellishment for the body. Next I die cut a leafy twig from scrap green smooched card.  To finish I stamped the sentiment and assembled the card, added a few green gems on the leaf as tiny eggs.
