Cheery Sunflower cards

This month over at Group of Cardmakers they are playing with Dies..... Creating cards with Inlaid Diecutting technique

So I've had lots of fun with my large Sunflower die

Created this 'stained glass' effect using black card first and then yellow and red to fill in the petals and attached to a lovely green patterned paper

And then of course you're left with the yellow card die cut of the large sunflower, so I trimmed off the extra flowers and leaves and die cut it again in darker yellow for the petals and finished it off with a sentiment for a friend whose had surgery and used a soft green background.

Then of course you've again got the darker yellow die cut flower, so I stopped myself and just attached this outline to a blue card with a stamped sentiment.

Two Cards featuring Flowers

Sharing today some garden flowers that are blooming at present... Beehive Ginger, and hanging baskets of begonias.

And it's time for the first 2021 Twofer Card Challenge of the year - #34 - Flowers .......  right up my alley

AND they're celebrating the fourth year of challenges  - well done Darnell and your design team

Today I've chosen to use a flower die on both my cards - birthday and get well cards

 

For my birthday card I die cut the flower on white card and used a brush to apply some Versamark to the petals and added peony scarlet Magical Micas with a light spray of water - I did the same to the flower centre using a tiny dots stamp and Versamark and gold Perfect Pearls.  I watercoloured the stem with Distress Ink.  Next I created the pink background - stamping Picked Raspberry DO using bubble wrap.  I die cut a stitched rectangle in matching pink card and used an oriental script stamp and Versamark with gold Perfect Pearls, the stamped and white embossed the sentiment.

For something different for my Get Well card I used a long slim design using three die cut flowers - tops only from an Alcohol Ink background and then the stems from a green AI piece.  I used the bubble wrap to add black ink to the flower centres and heat embossed with black EP.  Next I die cut the vase from vellum and added some detail with Iced Spruce DI....then stamped and gold embossed the sentiment and die cut the label shape to fit.  Lastly I assembled all the elements with foam tape on a cream dry embossed background.

Two cards featuring Silhouettes

Back today to play along with the TWOFER Card Challenge #32 - Silhouettes.  There are so many fantastic cards by the DT and at first I was miffed about which stamp to use until yesterday I opened a drawer looking for another stamp and there in the back was this large silhouette floral wood-mounted stamp

I've made a birthday card and get well card... using background pieces from my stash... so a silhouette stamp makes for quick and easy cards.

This bright background made with Brushos was perfect for the wildflowers - stamped in black ink and heat embossed with black EP... mounted to a black card and finished with a stamped sentiment on a blue card strip.

This gorgeous little background piece fitted so nicely with the black of the silhouette... I think it's Distress Inks not sure of the colours... both the floral and sentiment stamped and heat embossed with black ink and EP and attached to black card for a frame and mounted on a mustard card.

Two cards featuring Sun/Moon

Too much time lately in the garden so I'm barely making it to post my cards for the 

August Twofer Card challenge #30 ----  Sun/Moon

I'm using both images on my cards, using a very old All Night Media stamp - Sister Sun, Brother Moon.

Stamped and gold embossing the image repeatedly over white card panel and then blended Distress Oxide inks in blue shades over the top.  I used bleach to remove some of the ink on the middle image.  To finish I stamped and gold embossed the sentiment strip on pale blue card.

For my second card I stamped and white embossed the image once on kraft card panel and used a cotton tip to colour the image in Distress Oxides.  To finish I attached to a black card and stamped and white embossed two sentiments on a black card strip.

Two Cards using a Die Cut

Isn't it great when you can make two cards at the same time.

That's what happened for me today.

Playing along with the CAS Mix Up February challenge - Use a Die Cut as a Stencil.

First I die cut the 'Texture Woven' die from white card and taped it in place on a white card panel... then blended Mustard Seed Distress Oxide over the die to give a background for my stamped, watercoloured and fussy cut daffodil.  Stamped and gold embossed the sentiment and die cut the panel with crazy double stitched die and attached to a deep gold card.

For the second card I used the die cut that is now yellow from the blended DO and attached it to a white card.  I stamped the daffodil again using the yellow, orange and green DO inks and used them to watercolour the image.  Then to finish added a stamped sentiment strip with foam tape.

Get Well Soon

Well maybe it's just the right timing for me to be making a 'Blue' themed card for June CAS Watercolour challenge - Something Blue...... because that's just how I'm feeling this weekend with news that my mum has had a fall and broken her leg, she's 88 - thankfully she's still healthy and fit and of a positive nature and will be taking Dr's order to stay off the leg for 6 weeks seriously, and she won't like me for putting her photo in here... Love you Mum and that's why I decided to make this a Get Well card.
I used Loll's Splash watercolour technique for the background and hand painted some flower stems with Twinkling H2Os.  I stamped my sentiment to the bottom of one of those leftover frames you create when you die cut a rectangle, then attached blue card to the back of the opening and trimmed my painted panel attaching it to fit leaving a narrow blue frame.

Get Well Soon

 My second card today is a spring bouquet - I stamped the image in light inks so I could watercolour with out lines, but I left the stamped panel and stamp in place in the Misti, so I could overstamp it in Brushed Corduroy DI to finish.  Then I decided to off set my die cut circle in green card and attached this with foam tape, so I could tie some twine around the edge.  To finish I stamped and die cut my sentiment circle and attached a small metal charm.  I am playing along with Just Us Girls Colour challenge #484  Green, Orange and Yellow. Also Power Poppy Creative Confetti challenge - Think Spring and Watercooler Wednesday WWC218 - Marsha's "All About Occasions" challenge.

Wishing You Well

A 'Get Well' card today quite handy to have in ones stash... so I've used the colours at Just Add Ink Colour challenge #433 for a bright cheerful card.  I stamped the image and used both Twinkling H2Os and Distress Oxides to water colour the image and rather than fussy cut for a change I left it as a panel to add to my purple card.  Then simply to finish added a stamped sentiment strip. I am also playing along at Happy Little Stampers Watercolour November challenge  Optional Twist: Get Well and adding my card to Stamplorations Never Ending Anything Goes challenge.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.
