 SPRING reminds me of bulbs back in my mums garden - daffodils and snowdrops, freesias and ranunculus...but living in the tropics the flowers a not the same.

These are some beautiful pink/mauve flowers??? in my sisters garden last weekend -  not technically spring here but they sure were looking lovely in her garden.

Wine is Best....

I made this background panel some weeks back with new stencils I had bought....I just loved it so today I am really please to be using it on a card.  I have this fabulous wine bottle/glass stamp and simply stamped it in brown Versafine, then hand stamped the sentiment using letters sets (can't you tell; they're all wobbly) and then mounted that on dark brown card onto cream and decided not to trim off the extra but instead finished it off with a small tag. I'm posting to City Crafters challenge #246 - Cheers! ...might just be going to enjoy a red tonight at a BBQ with the neighbours.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

 

Think Peaceful Thoughts

I seem to be on a roll today...my third card.  Now I have used a new technique today which I saw on Youtube here  - Easy Triple Time stamping. I've used two stamps from my Power Poppy Countryside Bouquet set and followed the tute....randomly stamped the sprig in grey and then the honeysuckle in coral and chianti. Then layered the three panels on soft pink. For the sentiment from Power Poppy Good Thinking set I inked in grey and mounted it on a grey strip and then finished the card with a few pink pearls. I've used the colours at ColourQ cQc#227 and will post to the Power Poppy Peep of the Week challenge.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Hugs and Wishes

For this card I started by stamping the rows of hearts in white and embossing in white, then I used my long forgotten chalks, in three shades of pink to get this ombre effect and accidentally the white embossed hearts grabbed the pink chalk. So I decided to colour them in with white gel pen. I cut this down and layered it on white and then onto a heart embossed background. To finish I stamped the IBS sentiment and attached it with a mini heart brad. I'm posting my card to Shopping Our Stash #186 - Love me do, Addicted to Stamps and More - Clean and Simple, The Card Concept 27 - Love, and Inspired by Stamping IBSIC #90, where I've with both the sketch and Heart theme for my card.

STAMPlorations January challenge - Stamps and Ink

I tried something different this morning....First I stamped the swirly image several times in white and embossed in white. Then I dabbed some Distress Ink (peacock feathers, salty ocean) on my plastic sheet sprayed with water and inverted the card - giving me a lovely blue/green mix. Next I ironed off the embossing so I would have a flat surface to stamp my sentiment....well that didn't work too well - it's flat but left some squashed shiny swirls. but I figured I might as well see if the stamping would work.  Yes ok the black ink looked good, so I decided to add my own swirls with a fine silvery glitter pen, and some sequins..and now I'm really happy with my card.

Friday Smiles

 

Now who wouldn't be Happy on Australia Day - January 25 ....they give us a holiday. So last Friday we headed off to spend 5 days with my sister and hubby  in Gympie. Haven't seen them for 18 months, so there was lots of smiles, and hugs and a wonderful relaxed visit.

 They live in the peaceful countryside - here is part of her lovely garden

They feed a variety of birds every day - here are the lorikeets and their beautiful colours

 And a glorious sunset.

Happy Mothers' Day

My second card for this week is based on the layout at Try Stampin' On Tuesday #203.

I decided to create the background 'alternating bands' with my brayer and that Kaleidacolor Ink pad I've had for mmmmany years - unbelievable - it still works and much richer in colour than the photo. I stamped this bowl of flowers at my last visit to friend Vikkis and decided to use an oval shape and also die cut a scalloped oval to frame it. I coloured the image with Distress Inks and mounted it over a length of ricrac braid and finished the card with a small sentiment. I am also joining my friend Karen who is making Mothers' Day cards for the Aussie Troops, so we'll see how many I can rustle up. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Simon Says Wednesday ANYTHING GOES

Hi there today and hope you've enjoyed the week. Today I have a birthday card for a male and am playing along with the theme at House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge #186 - Make it Masculine, also posting to Simon Says Wednesday - Anything Goes and Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes theme. I truly love these cute little mice and the antics they get up to, and I found this image I'd stamped some time ago and thought it would be appropriate...getting up to mischief and having a good fun time...hope that translates to having a wonderful fun birthday. I coloured it with watercolour pencils and used a circle die to nearly cut around the whole  image and then close cut around the second mouse. I chose this background paper from my freebies stash because of the browns and diamonds for males and highlighted the sentiment with a circle too and finished off with some glitter glue on the dragonfly wings. I am also using this card as my "B" project for my friends ABC Tag/Card challenge - have made a Birthday card with Brown; a colour not much seen on my cards. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
