Be Brave, Be Bold

Had some fun time making some ATCs to swap and play along with the Simon Says Monday challenge - Make an Artist Trading Card.   I gold embossed this large background stamp and used bright colours of Brushos to give this pattern a rich feel.  Then mounted the panels to a matching card back and stamped my sentiment.  I cut up the sentiment and sponged the edges, mounted them with foam tape and added a few gems to finish. Make An Artist Trading Card

Rosy - Hello there

Today I am honoured to be Guest Card Maker to Power Poppy's - Hues to Use
and here is this weeks colour palette...

I've made two card using the 'Everything Rosy' digi set.
This is my first time ever using a digital image for my card - I resized the image and erased some of the rose overlapping the mug so I would have two separate outlines.  After printing the image on white card I decided to use my Brushos for watercolour, so I could mix the colours to suit the palette, then I did a wide cut around it and drew in the bottom of the mug with fine black pen.

I wanted to keep the design clean and soft, and thought this lattice die cut frame was all I needed - backed with pale lilac onto a white card.
To finish I used an oval die to cut around my re-sized sentiment and added a few mini pearls.
For my second card I used the other part of my printed image and decided to go a bit bolder with the colours.  I watercoloured the image and fussy cut the top edge and for some reason I left the bottom of it squared off.  Then what to do???  Out come heaps of different shade of card - I'm terrible for trying to match colours and found this 'burnt orange' piece that I decided to run through the Cuttlebug with the swiss dots embossing folder - which I sanded - this broke up the flat colour a bit - and pulled together the white layer and bold white corner.
I hand dyed the ribbon with Distress Ink and added the bow to the bottom before attaching it to a mustard coloured card.  To finish I re-sized the sentiment, die cut it and used foam tape to mount it offset on the card.
I'm really happy with my two very different cards and have enjoyed test myself with the colours of this weeks Hues to Use...  If you're needing to be inspired pop over to Power Poppy's blog and check out the Hues to Use - they are each ongoing open so you can always share your efforts.

It takes a long time to grow an old Friend

Just can't help myself with these Alcohol Ink pieces... so here is another one for the  CAS Mix Up August challenge - Stamping, Alcohol Inks and my choice - Die Cuts.  I used the layout at Try Stamping on Tuesdays #335 sketch challenge and am also posting to Addicted to CAS challenge #118 -Friends with my stamped sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek
PS - my Alcohol Inks have been used twice prior to this, so I'm very happy they are seeing the light of day

Of course Robins would have to be a favourite bird for me from a very young age seeing as I'm Robyn too... so I do enjoy putting a wee red Robin on a card.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut my bird image. Then created my scene with a masked sponged snowy skyline sprinkled with water to achieve some falling snow and then stamped on some pine branches in green Distress Inks. To finish I layered my panel on red, foam taped on my Robin, tied on a red bow and stamped my sentiment.
I am playing along with ABC Christmas challenge - P, Q, and R - -  R for Red on my card. Also posting to Holly and Ivy Christmas challenge #12 - Anything Goes and Merry Monday Christmas Christmas in July Summer Link Up - I'm casing challenge #219 - Use a bird on your card.   Thanks for taking a peek

More fun yesterday at Vikki's place, playing with 'Salt'... so I have used card with a shiny surface this panel not absorbent card stock and it worked beautifully - I experimented by added the salt crystals to the white card, then the Brushos powder and then added more salt before I hit it with a medium amount of water - result the larger pieces did hold back the wet ink so you get some really light spots too - I used Violet and Turquoise. To help the panel pop from the blue panel I layered it on white card and then decided to make a male card and added a stamped, watercoloured and fussy cut golfer, standing on my stamped sentiment tag.
I am posting to CAS Watercolour August challenge - Salt, Watercooler Wednesday challenge WWC132 - Masculine Anything Goes, and to Addicted to Stamps and More #255 challenge - beautifully photo inspiration... just love these shades of purple/blues.  Thanks for taking a peek

PS... I did wonder if the coloured salt could be reused... so I made this panel (left) on a smooth finished card with Brushos and when it was dry, collected the coloured salt and scattered it onto an absorbent piece of card and wet it well... it works (I sponged the yellow on the edges, the center yellow is from the green salt) - result another 2 pieces to add to my base panel stash.

Enjoy, It's Your Birthday

I had a grand time yesterday at my friend Vikki's playing with Alcohol Inks again... so have another card for the CAS Mix Up August challenge - Stamping, Alcohol Inks and my choice Dies.  WOW, so making these panels had me stunned watching the affects of the drips when they hit the card... this card too is different to my past attempts - they are actually the card strips you get in between the teabags in a packet..one side is shiny, so the ink just moved slowly in rings and merged with the added colours... there's some more simple cards to be made. So gorgeous this strip I only needed to add a stamped sentiment and scribble circle die cut (new one of my friend) and decided to go for a blue coloured card instead of white.
I am also posting to Simon Says Wednesday challenge - Add a Sentiment and to Virginia's Summer Blog Party - sharing our latest creations.  Thanks for taking a peek

Happy Birthday

I have another card for the CAS Mix Up August challenge using Alcohol Inks... more smooching, dripping and splotching with three colours.... I added some drops of Blending solution too. Then I stamped and embossing a flower, fussy cut  and coloured it with sponged ink and gave it a mist spray with Perfect Pearls.  To finish I layered my panel onto black card and stamped a sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek

Wishing you a Happy Birthday

I've been having a play with some Alcohol Inks which haven't had much use as I really don't know what to do with them.... so I just dripped and blotted and sponged and swirled with two colours. I selected a section and layered it onto teal card and used the leftover to cut a center for my die cut flower.  To finish I added a die cut foliage, foam tape lifted the flower and added a stamped sentiment.  I'm inspired to experiment with my inks to play along with the CAS Mix Up challenge this month... stamped sentiment, alcohol ink and die cuts.
I am also posting to Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes challenge.  Thanks for taking a peek

Life is a Cup of Tea

House Mouse and Friends HMFMC #247 sure did give us a challenge this time... Anything BUT a Card but I checked out my stamps and thought this cute Feeling Rosy one with Maxwell in a Cup would be perfect to make some toppers, then I ended up making a tag too.  I stamped the image, and to make the topper - creased it and cut around the head so it would fold back.  Then I coloured them with Distress Inks and used a die to cut the stitched tag.  I do like a cup of tea so I put four teabags in my cellophane bags and attached the toppers.
I used the colour theme at Colour Throwdown #456 - Pink, Green and Yellow.  Thanks for taking a peek... I'm sure a couple of friends will enjoy these.

Bon Voyage

This card was inspired by the photo inspiration at Time Out Challenges #89 - Home Sweet Home also the theme at The Male Room #66 - Maps/ Coordinates.  I used some designer paper displaying a world map and compasses for the background and a stamped 'trunks' image from the photo, and to finish added two stamped sentiments.  Thanks for taking a peek

Birthday Wishes

I am definitely going to try this style again... love how the Brushos came up so rich against the gold embossing on this background stamp. I cut a white card frame and gold embossed my sentiment and then attached to a teal card.  To finish I added s floral die cut.  I am posting to Simon Says Monday challenge - Happy Birthday and Watercooler Wednesday challenge WWC#131 - All About Birthdays.  Thanks for taking a peek
