A Smile is Contagious

Another card from me today for the CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#73 challenge - this week they have combined a layout with the colour inspiration from Runway and I've tried to combine the both....thought it wouldn't be too bad but I struggled...don't even know if I'm liking it now either.  Anyway thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Wishing you A Merry Christmas

Hi and happy Easter, fortunately for me I am able to skype with good friend Vikki today and make some cards after having a lovely few days with our kids and baby grand daughter who were here visiting for Easter. I've made another Christmas card for my growing stash, firstly for the Christmas Cards All Year Round challenge...month of April the theme is Poinsettias. Here I have a very old Christmas stamp that hasn't been used for a long time, so it's nice to see it on the finished card.  I coloured it was Twinkling H2Os and added a sentiment to the blank space in the middle.  Secondly I'm posting on Crafty Hazelnuts Christams challenge #173 - "If you want to get ahead, get a hat" ... inspiring you to include a hat on your card. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Our Beautiful World

Our Beautiful World,Week 43 - This week Ros has suggested "Transport" as the theme for our photos.
This is a 1974 (scanned) black and white photo of our first car...
an old 1947 Ford V8 Pilot....here in this photo all shiny and restored - hubby and myself with sister-in-law (right) (Stephen's brother took the photo) having a picnic in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, Australia. Sadly we no longer own it,.
The car meant a lot to me as it belonged to my grandfather, who had the pedals modified as he was a amputee from Gallipoli. Leather interior, rear window roller blind, wind out windscreen and in excellent condition as the grandfather only ever drove is short distances to the town and back over 25 odd years.

My brother first decided to restore it after it sat in my dad garage for some time after his dad passed but it continued to sit for another year before I begged dad to let us have it. This is what it looked like when we took it on - engine out, sitting in the weather in a sorry condition.

Sorry for the poor photos, just realized they're more than 40 years old but I enjoyed sharing them and the story.
Thanks for taking a peek and please join in the fun at Our Beautiful World

Autumn leaves

So today I'm happy to be posting a card for Virginia's View, challenge #2 - Stencil....just on checking yesterday I saw there was only 2 days to play so my brain went into overdrive, and I'm not sure where this idea came from. Firstly early in the month as I don't have any bought stencil I decided to have a go and cut my own out of transparency acetate - (not too difficult this pattern) so decided to use it and figured it looked like autumn leaves and then I imagined those autumn colours on black...well it all just flowed then. Sprayed with Perfect Pearls and the Pearl Ex powder wouldn't stay so re-positioned the stencil added a bit of Versamark and then brushed on three shades of PE- antique copper, brilliant gold and inference gold. I had a small try out piece so did the same and cut out a couple of leaves to add and give some 3D to the card. Then choosing the sentiment mmm well I ended up with part of a Christmas stamp which I think is appropriate...I do love autumn as it is here in Australia at the moment. Desk photo late yesterday.

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

Hi and welcome snoopers to my desk this fine Wednesday....yes we share photos of our desks and if you're wanting to know more please pop over to our fine leader Julias blog and see that there are some 100+ WOYWW#254 players.
This is my desk first thing this morning when I was sorting out cards to finish off...well I only got the pink and yellow one on the left finished - it's for the Card Chain challenge.  Also there a couple of stamps needing to be put away (I did actually stack away my pile that's been hanging around for a few weeks). There are folders in the nook with some click/clear stamps, a nook for all my pens and odd bits. On top my flower jars under the ribbons. My OTT light in the middle. On the right shelf are my ink trays with my sprays and powders in front. Far left my container of finished cards on top of the printer.
Now a few hours later after browsing my blog readers list and discovering that Virginias Views challenge is closing in 2 days, I figured I'd better try something.

Not having any bought stencils, earlier I had a go at cutting one by hand (blue transparency) and wondered what spraying my shine colour mist on black might do - it's silvery. Then out came the inference powders and ended up using versamark over the stencil again to get the powder to stick....so it looks a bit like autumn leaves. It's great having the big artist pad underneath - catches all the mess and tryouts.
Excitement at our place too as our kids and the grand daughter are making the trip down for Easter, so I have to rearrange my craft room to fit in a mattress...yippee, Sophie's coming for cuddles.
Well I'd better post this and go visit a few desks before I have to leave and make dinner, Happy Easter to you all, and thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Water Lilies

I have two friends both by the name of Vikki and who love to stamp and make cards too.. So we decided to have our own monthly challenge - namely the RobVikVik challenge, and we each get to pick one aspect of the card.  Vikki W chose the layout and Vikki R the colours, I suggested we use a stamp we haven't used in a very very long time. So here's my card for April.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
ps - if by some chance you would like to join in with us crazy card makers, please just leave a comment and I'll get back to you...we don't play for prizes

A beautiful day here today and I've made another card to help the DT at City Crafters Challenge week 206 to celebrate their 4th Birthday and for the Inspired by Stamping challenge - add Buttons to a card. I've chosen to CASE Kirstys card at CCC.  I have a postcard embossing folder and have tried to include some of the different elements of Kirstys card on mine.
