Two cards featuring Leaves

Time to share my two cards featuring Leaves...
I chose to use a die cut leaf sprig

  • With this longer die cut I decided to make a slim card
  • Die cut two leaf sprigs and used Distress Inks to loosely watercolour them
  • On matching green card I used the negative of the die cut to add a gold embossed sprig to the background
  • Die cut a decorative label and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment, then blended shabby shutters DI around the edge
  • Layered the panel on dark green to add a frame, assembled the elements and added a few gold gel pen dots

  • Again as the die cut is long I decided to use them as a pretty frame for the sentiment and made a square card.
  • Die cut four leaf sprigs and used Distress Oxide smooching to add the colours
  • On a square white panel I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair - Tulip red and heat embossed with Gold Pearl EP
  • Folded picked raspberry card to create the square card and attached all the elements...finishing off with a few White Nuvo Crystal Drop spots

Happy Birthday

Love the sight of the Spring country side ablaze with yellow from the various wattles in flower...not at the moment here in Australia but thought wattle would be perfect for these two challenge.
  • Stamped the image randomly off the page around a white card panel
  • Watercoloured with Distress Inks
  • Die cut the sentiment in yellow card and sponged old paper DI in the white space which helped to highlight the sentiment.
  • Assembled the panel on a matching yellow card

Best Friend

Gail and Jo are really challenging us this month at Let's Squash It!   ---  3 EF and a person !!!
Do have blank times in your creative mojo and then at the silliest times ideas pop into your head
well... that's how this card came to be when I was about to head off to bed last night.

  • I stamped the girls dress in light brown ink on an off white card scrap and then ran it through the Cuttlebug with a new EF... then swiped Speckled Egg DO over the raised sections and water coloured the hem, sash and neck with Broken China DI, and fussy cut it out
  • Stamped the whole girl image on white card and watercoloured it with DI and added detail with coloured pencils, and fussy cut it out and attached the dress
  • Being a tall image I decided to make a slim line card...
  • Found an embossing folder with a repeat pattern so I could emboss a long piece of white card.. then sponged Speckled Egg DO along the edge
  • Embossed a strip of matching blue card with the sentiment strip and highlighted the raised with Broken China DI.
  • Assembled the elements using foam tape on the girl image on a matching blue card

Sending a Smile

This month at CAS Mix Up,  Linda is challenging us to use our patterned papers with Paper Piecing

  • I selected this daffodil stamp and three pieced of patterned paper to suit
  • Stamped the image on each in black and fussy cut the parts and attached the small pieces in place
  • On cream card I stamped the image again twice in grey and as it was too dark I shaded over it with a white Derwent Pastel pencil and lightly coloured the parts with pencils.  Added some depth to the image with coloured pencils
  • Then stamped and gold embossed the sentiment
  • Assembled all the elements on a mustard yellow card and added some white gel pen to the stamen.

For a Special Friend

I stamped and white embossed my floral image and watercoloured it with Distress Inks.  Keeping it simple with just an added stamped and silver embossed sentiment... attached the panel to a purple card.

Other:  White embossing powder, silver embossing powder

Just to say....

This card panel was created a few weeks back when I was trying out the CAS Card Mix Up challenge to use die cuts as stamps....from some recycled card I die cut this floral cluster and used Distress Oxides to colour the flowers and stems, lightly spritz with water and stamp onto the white card - I did this a couple of times and then it got lost in the piles on my desk.  So today I die cut one more image in white card and then three more times in scarp card.  Watercoloured the die cut with Distress Oxides in oranges and green and glued the layers together.  I trimmed the panel to a square card adding a strip in green as the panel was a bit narrow.  Stamped and clear embossed the sentiment and assembled the card adding so clear Nuvo Drops to the flowers.

Oh NO!!!!

"Distressing" - No, we love to have the girls over for a sleepover - last Thursday actually as it's school holidays.   But my card uses a few Distress elements - my stamped mum is from my prestamped stash, 'crackle' embossing folder with Distress Ink to colour the raised impressions, distressed edge of the paint swatch.  I used coloured pencils on the image as it's very old and the card probably not suitable for watercolouring.

Happy Birthday

This stamped and gold embossed image is from my stash so I only need to watercolour it and the extra butterfly and fussy cut them.  I decided on a slim line card and chose matching aqua card to frame the image and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment.  Finished off with a cream card, attached the second butterfly and some Nuvo crystal drops on the flower and glitter glue on the butterfly.
