Friend

With my second card this afternoon I'm playing along with two challenges...the Card Concept #11 with colours that aren't favourties of mine and I'm styling my card as Clean and Layered after team member Kay. Then I've used the layout at Fresh Made Sketches fs#138.
I'm very happy with the result, thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Just for You

Hi there and once again you find me at my desk Skyping and stamping with my friend Vikki.  She does these CAS(E) sketches quite often but I don't find them that easy - not enough frills and layers maybe. Anyway I did really like this weeks sketch CAS(E) this Sketch #78 and immediately wanted to incorporate this wavey Spellbinders die. I love the fresh feel of it and am very happy with how it turned out.
Thanks for taking a peek and hope your weekend is off on a happy tangent for you Robyn

Fantastic Tag

DSC09557
Here I am again on the death knock completing my May tag for Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014.  Always putting it off as it's out of my comfort zone..this type of artistic creation.  I am happy with my tag which is only based on Tims as I don't have his range of add-ons....I had to scrounge deep in my old stash to find my trinkets but do love the mother of pearl little fish best. ...sssigh...

Bring Us Some Figgy Pudding

Happy Friday morning and here I have another Christmas card for my growing stash.  Merry Monday #110 have a food inspired photo so out of no where I decided to do a Christmas Pudding that I've fashioned out of oval dies and a holly die I have. I free hand cut the custard and made it glossy with Dimensional Magic, also the berries. And stamped some fruit into my pudding.  I found this colour co-ordinated background I'd  recently made from an Distress Inked embossing folder and printed my sentiment on the computer as it was more fitting than any stamps I have.

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday...Week 260, 5th anniversary celebrations

A great big warm friendly hug from me today to celebrate
along with Julia our hostess and around 100 others the
5th Anniversary of the WOYWW desk sharing phenomena
This is my first year to celebrate and exactly 11 months since I joined this wonderful group of talented, crafty, artistic, thoughtful, encouraging and inspirational people....thank you all who have visited my desk over the months and left wonderful  comments...and Happy 5th Anniversary. And quoting Julia...

That's the spirit of WOYWW
- a presumption of Friendship.

My desk today is pretty much the norm....on the left the pile of 'in progress' cards and the green one in front is one I made for my friend Janice and who sent it back and so now is my turn to return it to her...she's living in the UK for two years. Next to them is my small pile of WOYWW ATCs for the swap today. Along the back are two of those Card in a Box creations...the experimental ones for me - quite easy and effective and love that they fold flat to post. Then in the middle back is my first WOYWW ATC swap (not saying who it's from so it's a surprise for others) but it is absolutely wonderful, matching envelope and all. Then there's my bird tree holding my new cards I received in the mail this week - left from Loly in USA (Card Chain challenge) and right from my dear Vikki (we send each other a card each month). My grandma pen and empty coffee mug and on my laptop the screen for making this months Tim Holtz May tag for 12 tags of 2014.....which is what the collection of bits is on my work pad...me trying to figure out a theme as I don't have most of the things Tim uses on his creations....I like to play along because it's way out of my comfort zone.
If you're still interested in what I've been doing today - pics follow... I've been making tomato sauce and bottled it this morning and then finished off sewing a sleeping bag for gorgeous Sophie - which I made from a baby wrap I picked up cheap and used her other one as a guide.

If you are a little bit intrigued by all of this desk and life sharing please pop over to Julias blog for more information and we would all love you to join in.
A fresh cuppa for me and then some desk hopping Cheers and have an absolutely fab week Hugs Robyn

Happy Birthday

A quiet afternoon here at my desk so I've finished off this card using a monochrome colour palette and the layout from Retro Sketches rs#116. I have also played along at Less Is More - Week 173, Include a Die Cut.  For my card I cut two  large circles from blue and white card and layered them over some gorgeous Teresa Collins designer paper and mounted these onto a swiss dot embossed background. Then I formed a flower medallion from three die cuts and centered it with a pearl brad and attached this to a tag sentiment. Just finished off the scalloped circle with a few tiny pearls, I'm very happy with my finished card.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Keep Calm and put on the Kettle

Hi on this fine Sunday - I've been able to create another card while hubby mows the lawns. So this card is for the City Crafters challenge Week 212, What's Cooking?  And I couldn't resist making a "Cuppa" card - love my cup of tea and this sentiment was waiting to be used. Teamed it up with some great background paper and a teacup stamp I've had for years. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Our Beautiful World

For Week 48 at Our Beautiful World
our lovely team member Ros from UK,
has suggest the theme
 'SPOTS"

Originally my son Ryan suggested I photograph an Australian aboriginal dot painting but alas I couldn't find one.
SO!! I resorted to some photo editing which I have only ever tried once or twice before. With a bit of playing in Adobe Photoshop CS5 I came up with this altered photo of a friends wee Scotty dog...isn't he cute.
The process is as follows
Filter
..Texture
...Mosaic Tiles
....Stained Glass.

AND then this morning, there staring me in the face is my morning cup of tea in my fav purple spotty mug. So I toasted up my fruit and nut loaf and onto a tray for a quick pic before I sat back and enjoyed...mmmm smell that fruit and cinnamon.
Thanks for taking a peek and if you feel you'd like to join in and share a few photos with us at Our Beautiful World - we would love so much to see your pics.
Robyn

Friends are the Sunshine of Life

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with "Trees".
  2. Create a project with "Heat or Dry Embossing".
  3. Or Mash it up and create a project with "Embossing and Trees".
When my friend Vikki saw the colours this week at ColourMe...subtle - CCC#21, she immediately thought of me and knew I would love them and as it works out the photo inspiration at The Shabby Tea Room: Week 219, theme Flowers and Balloons are playing my favourite colours too
I have teamed these colours with the Friday Mashup FM161 theme of including a tree and heat embossing.  I was totally inspired by the Colour Me inspirational photo that I just had to dig out my tiny flower punch and create this blossom branch.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Sending Smiles

With my second card  today I've used the layout at Retro Sketches rs#115 and the colours from Just Add Ink #215. I embossed the bird image and tore the paper as I did with the layer underneath. Then using two different sized circle stencils I Distress Inked the round shape and stamped on the sentiment. A few gems and a couple of grass shapes finished off the card.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Happy Birthday to You

SOS #152: Happy Birthday To Us!!!!

I love this Penny Black - Tulip stamp and sadly don't use it enough...I was playing around with markers directly onto the stamp, then stamped onto damp cardstock and lastly a very fine water spray which had the ink run a littl -. and came up with this effect which I really like. I'm playing along with three challenges - CAS-UAL Fridays CFC131: Three Thirds, CAS.ology: Week 96, Flowers, and over at Shopping Our Stash #152 they are celebrating their 3rd Birthday today - so a very big congratulations to the DT at SOS.

Floral Merry Christmas

Hi and happy Friday...yippee the weekend is coming. This afternoon I figured it was time to make another Christmas card so I've used the theme at Merry Monday #109 - Flowers  and the recipe at 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown - to colour, add gems and deboss. I've used a gorgeous Christmasy background to guide my colours and used a holly debossed strip in cream to highlight the sentiment that I have coloured with Twinkling H2Os and then made a poinsettia flower out of die cut leaves and decorated with gems to finish off the card. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Hello Friend

Our little trio of friends have each supplied an aspect for this months RobVikVik challenge - Robyn the colour photo image, Vikki R the layout and Vikki W suggested we use a new or very old stamp on our card.
I've used my brand new Lily stamp, painted in watercolour and mounted on an embossed distress inked background. The embossed red dots that hold the sentiment really stand out but I think it works - that's what caught my eye in the photograph. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday??

Week 259 over there at WOYWW and only one week left till the 5th anniversary celebrations!! Want to know more pop over to Julias blog for details. A big thank you to all who visited my desk last week and left lovely comments.             As you may know I've been up visiting the gorgeous Sophie for the past two weeks while hubby was working his butt off with 12 hour days, poor honey he's not used to 4:30am wake ups and crashed into bed by 8pm, but thankfully the job went well.
Anyway we're back home (yesterday) and I'm all unpacked and just settling back to my desk, sorting and eager to get the purple card made.
Can you see my lovely new 6 drawer set in the middle that my two wonderful kids gave me for mothers' day - had to spend some time rearrange bits on my desk so it would fit - it's empty, so far.
Also on my desk LtoR red and kraft Christmas paper our friend Estelle shared with us Saturday week back, above that - my cheap finds while browsing shops in another city, also got the three little Easter buckets  for 75cents each. A blue and white card underway, two cards (center back) I have to photograph and post. In front left - lovely card from my dear friend Vikki just arrived today and next to that, one from Loly in USA for the Card Chain challenge (nice surprise in the mail box when we got home and thankfully it hadn't got wet with showers they're been getting here), she also included some die cuts and sequins, Thank you Loly. Then to the right some stamped sentiments and images I did while at Vikki's and above some die cuts from her dies for me to use...we share!!. My cup of tea there I'm enjoying as I post and in front a 'Special Grandma' pen from Sophie and Jacalyn.
Can you see Arthur under my desk - he's sleeping at last. He had a lovely time with brother Ginge and I think is missing his company :-(
Last pic of friends Estelle (L) and Vikki (R) having lunch last Saturday week at our sleepover stamping session, we were so busy I forgot to get a pic of us inside creating our masterpieces. This is Vikki's BBQ are, isn't it fabulous.
Well I'm off to visit some desks, hope you're all happy and healthy, thanks for taking a peek Robyn
PS...gorgeous Sophie out with family and friends for daddys birthday dinner

Our Beautiful World

Week 47 theme at Our Beautiful World
was suggested by Kirsty....
"Bath"
This weeks theme has prompted me to post a fun pic of  me hiding behind all the bath bubbles at a hotel in Perth, Western Australia... well of course I had to have a soak in the spa, it was in the room - just there for us to use - I might have gone a little overboard with the bubble bath ...
My next few photos were taken in 2008 when were lucky to holiday in Europe
Ancient remains of Roman Public Baths at Kourion, Cyprus
I can't believe they had heated baths back then...

Then I couldn't resist sharing these pics of the bird bath in our back yard when we lived in Karratha, Western Australia...I had to zoom in lots with these so as not to scare them away, but the birds sure appreciated the water and seeds we left out for them.

Thanks for taking a peek and please join in and share your photos with us at Our Beautiful World.  Cheers and have a great week Robyn
